Holy Cross School,Burdwan Compound,Ranchi is a Christian Miniority School founded and managed by the members of the Sisters of Mercy of Holy Cross Institute,Hazaribag(Center Province).This Congregation was founded in Swetzerland in the year 1856 by Fr. Theodosius Florentini OFM CAP and Mother Theresa Scherer.The Members of this congregation work in almost all the continents-America(North & South)Africa,Europe and Asia.
Inception
Holy Cross School,Burdwan Compound was started in 2010.This is unit of Ranchi Holy Cross Sisters Society and the Registration Number of the Holy Cross Society is 30 of 73/74(Undivided Bihar) and 323 of 2005-06(Jharkhand).

Blessed Anna Maria Katherina Scherer (31 October 1825 - 16 June 1888) was a Swiss Roman Catholic professed religious and the co-founder of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross. She founded that order alongside the Capuchin priest Theodosius Florentini. She was given the name of "Maria Theresia" upon her profession into her order. She was beatified on 29 October 1995

The sisters started to extend their service in India in the year 1894.Keeping the motto in mind they have established centers in more than 10 states in India up to now,responding to the invitations of different societies and organizations.They serve the nation in various fields like Formal and Non-formal Education,teaching training,Nursing training,Social Work.Vocational Training Programes,Hospitals,care of old,widows,orphans,physically & mentally challenged and so on.In all these the poor,oppressed and socially less privileged are given priority.
